The Cedar Log Tete-A-Tete Porch Swing brings the 2 seat and a table configuration to the porch — two people seated across from each other, hanging from a porch ceiling or beam. Where the yard swing version is self-contained with an A-frame, this one is built for a covered porch with an overhead attachment point, and priced accordingly. Built from 100% Northern White Cedar — the naturally rot and insect resistant wood Lakeland Mills has used in Edmore, Michigan since 1923. Contoured seat slats on both sides. Mortise and tenon joints at the structural connections. Galvanized exterior hardware throughout, including the hanging hardware.

Why the Material Is the Right Starting Point

Most outdoor swings at this price point are made from Chinese fir, which looks like cedar on a product page but isn't rot-resistant. Porch environments — even covered — expose wood to humidity, temperature swings, and indirect moisture that degrade Chinese fir in 1 to 3 years. Northern White Cedar is naturally rot and insect resistant. It holds fasteners tightly across the full life of the piece. In a hanging swing where joint integrity affects safety, this isn't a minor consideration. Northern White Cedar lasts 10 to 20 years. The material is what makes the purchase worth making.

The Swing Advantage

The tete-a-tete configuration changes how a swing is used.  The motion of the swing is synchronized — both sides move together — with the table separating the two seats. Compatible with the Cedar Log 5ft A-Frame Swing Mounts if you'd like to convert this to a yard swing setup later.

The Cedar Log Tete-A-Tete Porch Swing is built from 100% Northern White Cedar — the naturally rot and insect resistant wood that has been the standard for outdoor log furniture in Michigan's Great Lakes region for over a century. The tete-a-tete configuration seats two people with a table in between them, designed for hanging from a covered porch ceiling or beam. Contoured seat slats on both sides, mortise and tenon joinery at the structural connections, and galvanized exterior hardware throughout including the hanging hardware. The same construction Lakeland Mills has used in Edmore, Michigan since 1923.

Most outdoor swings are made from Chinese fir, which isn't rot-resistant and breaks down in 1 to 3 years of outdoor exposure — even on a covered porch. Porch environments still involve humidity, indirect moisture, and seasonal temperature changes that degrade wood that wasn't built for outdoor conditions. Northern White Cedar lasts 10 to 20 years because it's genuinely rot and insect resistant. It holds fasteners tightly over the full life of the piece, which matters more in a hanging swing than in static furniture.

Ships partially assembled from Edmore, Michigan with all hardware and step-by-step instructions. Hanging hardware included. Left untreated, Northern White Cedar weathers to a silver-grey tone over time. Apply a penetrating oil or water-based deck sealer to maintain the natural pale cream color. Compatible with Cedar Log 4ft A-Frame Swing Mount (CF400) and 5ft A-Frame Swing Mount (CF500) for yard placement if a porch isn't available.
