There's a specific kind of evening that happens at a bar. Not the commercial kind — the one at home, the outdoor one, the one somebody built because they wanted a proper place to pour a drink and sit down and not be somewhere else. The 30" bar stool exists for exactly that. It puts you at the right height for a 42" bar surface — which is the one you're most likely thinking about when you imagine a bar stool.
Northern White Cedar is a natural fit for a bar setup. Indoors, the round log construction adds character without trying. Outdoors, the cedar handles whatever comes — summer heat, rain, morning dew — without asking for a coat of anything. The smooth sanded surface means sitting at the bar in shorts all summer doesn't come with splinters. It just works.
Line a few of these up at a covered porch bar, a basement wet bar, or an outdoor kitchen counter and you've built something that looks like it was always supposed to be there. The cedar ages well — cream and vanilla that weathers to silver-grey if left natural, or holds its color if you stain it. Either way works.
About Log Checking
Northern White Cedar is a living wood, and like any character worth knowing, it has quirks. One of those quirks is called "checking" — the natural process where wood releases moisture and develops surface cracks as it settles. These can range from a hairline sliver to a crack running the full length of a log, and here's the important part: they only ever appear on the surface. They have zero impact on the structural strength or integrity of your furniture.
We think checking gives each piece its own fingerprint. No two stools look exactly alike — that's a feature, not a defect.

Frequently Asked Questions
What surface height does the 30" stool pair with?
The 30" seat height is designed for 42" surfaces — standard bar height for home bars, outdoor bars, and pub-height tables. If your surface is counter height (36"), choose the 24" stool (B51B). For dining height (28-30"), choose the 18" stool (B51A).
Can it be used indoors?
Yes. Northern White Cedar works indoors just as well as outdoors. It's a popular choice for basement wet bars, home bars, and pub-style game room setups.
Does it need to be painted or sealed?
No. Northern White Cedar is naturally rot and insect resistant. Leave it natural, or stain it to maintain the cream color or add UV protection for outdoor use.
How many stools fit at a home bar?
Plan for about 24" of bar space per stool for comfortable seating. A 6' bar fits 3 stools comfortably; a 4' bar fits 2.
