Small Cedar Log Arbor
UPC: 729331115534
An arbor lives in permanent outdoor exposure: soil at the base or ground-level placement, rain, humidity, full sun, and seasonal temperature swings through every year. Chinese fir, the material used in most imported garden arches at similar price points, isn't rot-resistant. It deteriorates in 1 to 3 years in those conditions — posts soften, joints fail at the top, and a structure that was supposed to be a garden feature becomes a problem to deal with. Northern White Cedar is naturally rot and insect resistant without chemical treatment. Cedar structures from Lakeland Mills hold up for 10 to 20 years in exactly the conditions an arbor faces every day.
Where the Small Arbor Works
At the compact scale, this arbor works at the entrance to a raised garden bed, over a garden path that doesn't need full walkthrough clearance, as a corner feature that marks a space without overwhelming it, or as a support structure for a smaller climbing plant — annual vines, compact clematis varieties, lighter climbing roses. It's also the right choice for yards where a large arbor would feel out of proportion.
For a full walk-through path arbor or for supporting more substantial climbing plants, see the Large Cedar Log Arbor (CF1157) at $469.95.
Construction: mortise and tenon joinery at the structural connections, galvanized exterior hardware throughout. Natural cream Northern White Cedar tone weathers to silver-grey if left untreated, or accepts any outdoor-rated stain or sealant to maintain the original color or coordinate with a specific landscape palette.
