Thermal modification is a chemical-free heat treatment that permanently changes the cellular structure of the slats, making them more resistant to moisture absorption, warping, and decay than untreated wood. A Note on Log Checking
The cedar log frame components may develop small surface cracks as the wood acclimates to changes in temperature and humidity. This is a normal characteristic of solid cedar construction — not a defect — and does not affect structural integrity. The thermally modified slats will not develop this type of surface checking. ThermaFusion products are covered by a 1-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship. This warranty covers structural failures and defects present at time of manufacture.
